6 AC Maintenance Tips to Keep Your Car Running in Dubai’s Heat
ou dread the moment when your air conditioner stops working because of a technical or non-technical problem. Since you’re not a professional AC repairer, you will have to call one to your home to fix your system. And you know what, AC repairing can be really expensive!!!
Professional air conditioner technicians who can get the job done without doing harm to other components of your system are hard to find. So you are better off taking good care of your AC and avoiding frequent repairs that require deep pockets.
In this article, I’m going to share six AC maintenance tips that will help you to keep your AC running and performing at its best for a long, long time.
So, without further ado, let’s get started!
6 Regular AC Maintenance Tips
1.Clean Your AC Filters At Least Once in a Week
If you are running your AC on a daily basis, your air filters get clogged. This clogging not only restricts the airflow but also blows dirty air, which is of course harmful to your lungs and overall health.
Cleaning filters barely takes any time. Just take them out, wash them, and leave them to dry for a few minutes. This simple maintenance is a long-term investment if you want your AC to be up and running for many years to come.
And please, don’t keep the same air filters running for more than 2–3 months. If they are cracked, or too dirty to be cleaned, replace them. This small investment can boost the energy efficiency of your system.
2.Inspect Condensate Drain
Problems with the condensate drain often go ignored until they cause any major problem. This drain is connected to a tray at the indoor unit and goes all the way down into a collection point, normally outside your apartment.
Blockage can occur in this pipe as insects are likely to crawl in it and die. This blockage can reverse the flow of water towards the front of the indoor unit and even the ceiling. If left untreated, it can even result in a ceiling collapse.
To spot any blockage before it escalates, have a look at the condensate tray. This tray is found under the indoor evaporator coil in the wall splits unit and under the indoor unit in case of ducted AC. If there’s still water in it, it’s a sign of a blockage in the drain line.
If you can’t fix it yourself, get it fixed by a professional. You can call one from any of the AC repair services in Dubai and get the job done smoothly.
3.Spray Antibacterial Solution on the Indoor Unit
Like any other surface, dust, dirt, grime, cobwebs, and even mold can form on your unit. So it too needs cleaning. No, I’m not asking you to disassemble your indoor unit and pour water on it.
Instead, wipe down your unit with a cloth or feather duster to remove these from your system. Along with that, you can spray an antibacterial solution on the unit.
Further, the indoor of your unit might require thorough cleaning. But given its efficiency, it’s worth it. However, it’s not recommended to take this matter into your hands. Instead, hire a professional who’s well experienced in chemically cleaning the indoor units.
4.Check Fan & Thermostat Regularly
A thermostat is a vital part of your air conditioner. If it’s not maintained, your AC will not live up to your expectations. Either it will slow down when you need more cold air or vice versa.
Likewise, if you’re feeling less air, it’s maybe time to repair or replace the fan. In either case, your best option is to call a repairer instead of taking matters into your own hands.
Replacing the battery of a thermostat or changing the fan of an AC not only requires knowledge and previous experience but also tools. Let someone more equipped than you do the job.
5.Sort Out Wiring Problems
Now that’s something obvious, once there’s a problem with the wiring, your AC will automatically stop working. But, should you wait for it to stop working or make sure all the wires are in place and in good condition?
Take out the manual and read the instructions for removing the access panel. Once removed, check the signs for overheating and burned wires. If there’s any problem, call out a professional to fix the issue before it escalates.
Broken or burned wires if not addressed can result in dreadful accidents. So be careful and fix such issues on time.
6.Clean the Outside Unit When Needed
The same is true for the outdoor unit. In fact, it’s more vulnerable to leaves, dirt, and grass clippings as it’s regularly exposed to the outside environment.
These particles can affect the capacity of your AC and airflow. The good news is, you can use the traditional garden hose to carry out the cleaning of your outdoor unit.
But avoid power washers because it can damage the unit.
